Thomas Charles Lethbridge - Life events

Thomas Charles Lethbridge - Life events

This analysis is a detailed look-up into charts for three life-periods of the Native, written primarily to be of use for the experienced astrologers familiar with Sidereal prognosticating techniques, but with aiming at directness and simplicity of elaboration so that the currently-students may also, hopefully, find practically-useful and valuable information in it as well.

 T.C. Lethbridge born:
March 23rd, 1901   4:00 GMT  Dunster, England

                                                            ****************

In is not always easy to directly & immediately see the difference in quality of information provided between the use of the SSR-SLR and the SL-LS Luminary-related period charts as the basic technique tool-kit for individual annual & monthly periods. - And actual analysis of period charts becomes, over time, less & less possible to perform adequately (and thus, to be able to give accurate prognosis), as one gets accustomed to habitually merely superficially glancing at these charts, for the sake of "harvesting data" from them toward building up a "statistically proven case" about how "splendidly perfectly working" is something which suits one's own bias-patterns.

When one uses the actually functional-for-prognostics Luminary period-techniques, there is no need to seek to "prove" anything - Life itself is proving the functionality of that which actually does work; it requires statistics to be "proven" as much as gravity requires statistics in order to be acknowledged as practically existing for a human on Earth.

Here we have an example of a Natus with abundance of biographical information and a well-recorded birth-time, providing us with a nice opportunity for an attentive detailed look-up.

I have selected three periods from his life which can serve best for a written analysis like this, with intent to encourage you to not be satisfied with that only, but to go on and proceed with further investigation on your own.

                                                                *************

The second half of year 1921 was very dynamic and eventful for Lethbridge:
during August, he engaged in an Arctic Expedition, experiencing such daring and adventurous voyage for the first time (and being part of the team who was first to successfully climb the Beerenberg), as well as getting the opportunity during this journey to excavate at an abandoned Eskimo settlement, as own first & unique practical archeological work; and upon return, in October, begun attending the classes at Cambridge Trinity College [where he, not being very interested in abiding by the 'academic standards' and 'authority rule' requirements, graduated in June 1923 with "a third class B.A."].

The two different annual technique-charts that cover this same period are his Solar Return 3/23/1921 and the Soli-Lunar 4/30/1921; he resided in Crowthorne, England, before starting to attend the college at Cambridge.

Let's look at the angularities and the Lunar aspects of each of these charts! - I will list these factors, avoiding to comment too much, and primarily allowing the naked data to speak for itself.

--- As you observe the picture formed by each of the two charts, keep in mind the question:to what extent would we be able to in advance accurately (non-vaguely) predict the key themes, the nature/quality of (now in retrospect, obviously, already-known) events and experiences for the Natus, by using one or the other of these charts as our basic annual-period technique?

A quite different kind of eventitude has befallen the Native during January 1948: he has received the information that his younger son, 21.5 years old at the time, has committed suicide.

The exact date of this I didn't find online - which invited for the look-up of the bi-weekly charts during the month, as well, in addition to the annual-period related preview.

Again, I'll avoid to comment in great detail, allowing, instead, primarily the astrological data itself to say what it has to say.

Look at the exact picture formed by all the prominent factors together, exactly as they are, in each chart, and the wider picture of "tides within tides" when all the layers - the Annual, the Lunar progression of it, and the bi-weekly charts - are considered.

-> Don't miss to notice that this is natal Mars!

Without knowing anything about events, and with seeing this SSR as it is and this progression, we'd conclude that this is the period when the Natus is especially emphasizedly physically engaged/active, very likely pronouncedly competitive, or otherwise angry and generally in a more-than-usual aggressive mode, expressing their own Mars - perhaps engaging in a fight, or being belligerent, or simply being very self-assured, with the sexual drive high and incentive to penetrate/conquer/overpower/attack/enflamedly-defend something or other from within the framework of immediate experience-stream.

The transiting Uranus-Mars-Jupiter trio in the sharpest fore, and accompanied by t Venus as it is, indicates risky/adventurous undertakings of a pleasurable, gusto-for-life, kind, as the main theme of the events and circumstances of the year - and when the whole picture is considered, with acknowledging that Uranus both tr and rx is in the sharp fore, we see that it's primarily about the individual Freedom and renewal, the Natus is experiencing a being-reborn kind of inner revolution, with own authentic desires re-kindled to expressiveness ...)

--> a very exciting month, with the themes of Freedom/renewal and Change pronounced in particular between 12/23 and 1/19; emotionally stimulating, related to his ideal romance or dream/vision in this regard, during the 12/23-1/4 period, requiring a lot of adaptability to shifting circumstances and with focus on sudden, unsuspected tide of Joy in this all, during the 1/5-1/19 period, and quite heated from 1/20 onward, with the Natus being under attack (perhaps experiencing physical violence) and in some passionate way, with presence of authority-figures, and with it all limiting Native's own expression/movement, while he's being called to especially be verbally aggressive/penetrating, express own precision/speed/dexterity with mind and with hands, in some specific manner ...

--> for the event of this specific nature & scope (of impact to the Natus), it's not surprising that we see a sequence of charts showing very similar planetary tone as the main-themes marker -- it is not something that comes up as a "temporary disturbance" and then within two-to-four weeks entirely "evaporates" from the Natus' awareness and life-experience.

The specific planetary combinations of these charts eloquently speak for themselves - the whole picture of angular factors in each chart, together with their unique peculiar groupings (clusterings).

Even if this was NOT happening during the period when the pSL Moon is within 1* of orb in dynamic aspect with both pSL Sun and the pSL Pluto, and "merely" appeared as this exact given sequence of Luni-Solars during the annual chart, SL, with the angularity and the Moon aspects of it as they are, we could do nothing but predict, based on such combination of charts, a period emphatically themed with a high-impact event/s with quality of profound emotional loss, for the Natus - or at least such that the changes, related to a close/beloved someone, which this period brings are emotionally heavy, irrevocable (of the "door forever further closed" kind), and that even if there's not someone they love/care-about who physically died, for the native themselves the experience is quite akin to exactly this.

---> this describes a month themed primarily with romantic-ideal/loving-relationships experiences, with the second part of it focalizing the refreshing changes for the native, and in whole, by what the orbs of included factors are showing, not a period with events of some especially great significance.

What exactly does the s Neptune with the progressed s. Moon indicate we could only vaguely guess - the age of the Native at the time is, by itself, certainly not a "warrant" of such aspect bringing death, and within the context of this Lunar Return, the monthly chart, we'd expect this primarily to be focused on the aesthetic, sensual and/or romantic-related phenomena.

---> We see the monthly chart bringing the exact same combination of foreground factors as the annual chart has, and this with the t Moon in the picture for the month added to it.

The t Jupiter-Neptune, as a duo, indicates the religious/mystical/ceremonial themes, or otherwise, the "between-the-veils" conditions of the subtle/invisible/immaterial realm and the mundane overlapping, the borderlines between them being thinned, if not entirely disappearing.

With that, we see the presence, in the annual chart, as well as the monthly and the bi-weekly, of the combination including: t Neptune, t Saturn and t Pluto (all of these three, in each chart), and with the annual and monthly having, along with this, the natal Sun, Neptune, Pluto and Node.

Being aware of Natus' age at the time, and seeing this peculiar clustering, repeated exactly as it is, during a period when the pSL Moon is going partile with the SL Mars, would beyond doubt alert us he is quite likely to depart the physical realm of living-as-human-on-Earth during this LS'a time-framework.

The bi-weekly, within this, puts also emphasis on Mercury, both tr and rx, repeating the theme shown in the SL Moon's aspects, and speaking of a peculiar kind of communication-intensified experience (I say peculiar due to the context of this chart itself, as well as the monthly/LS in whole, and with the t Ju-Ne combo pronounced as it is, along with the t Saturn & Pluto presence, in each of these three "layer-tides").

The whole picture of these charts shows that there was no "suddenness" to the event - the Natus expected it, and by everything we can see, was internally well-prepared and fully ready for the moment of its arrival.

Jack Whiteside Parsons

Jack Whiteside Parsons - Natal, and preview of a few period Charts

Throughout Jack's life, there was no ambiguity nor "controversy" about his birth hour - it has been, by Jack himself, communicated to and recorded by the astrologers of the time to be 23:00h.
It is only during the very recent past, not longer than a few years ago from now the most, that there has appeared another information, putting his birth time at 20:45h, and with the description of this source as "birth record".

This, then, opens the question:

If the Birth Certificate is available now, after his death, it must have been in existence during his life too; why would someone, with a birth hour recorded in a precise, specific way, as this purported "BC info" is (20:45 h) be informing the astrologers from their environment, and consistently so, that their birth time is different than that?

The event of birth was certainly witnessed (in the sense of living, experiential presence) by the mother, and his mother was alive during his life, and able to provide the info.

When two Natal charts are compared, the one with 20:45h birth hour, and the one with 23:00 birth hour, we see two fully different pictures of life and character.

The 20:45h chart shows:
Virgo Sun, Pisces Moon native, with Venus as sole angular (1*51' WP), and Su oct Ve (22'), Mo oct Ju (02') and cnj Er (1*19') as strongest dynamic Luminary aspects (in eclipto).

The 23:00 chart shows:
Virgo Sun, Pisces Moon native, with the angular, by orb:
Moon MC 06'
Sedna ZN 1*16'
Pluto AC 6*42'
Saturn AC 9*23'
And the strongest by orb dynamic aspects of Luminaries (ecliptical) being: Su oct Ve (21'), Mo cnj Er (1*48') and oct Ju (1*10').

This is not "a tiny, negligent difference" between the two core-pictures shown by these two charts.

This wasn't a caretaker, or a musician, or a perfume or fashion designer, or, say, a nursing assistant, or, a school chemistry teacher; nor was it a fragile and meek soul, strongly motivated by personal ease & comfort, avoiding conflict and controversy, a person of highly emphasized gentleness, primarily focused onto nurturing others (as the 20:45h birth time would indicate) - not even remotely so!

It was an one-of-a-kind in a clearly Plutonian manner, intense and controversial character, daring to delve into the depths that the environmental "normal" and "common perspective" considers "insane", a rocket fuel scientist (at the time when rockets that can fly up&out from Earth's atmosphere were thought as "impossible", and the very mention of it was being mocked by his contemporary scientific circles), a worldly-famous character, with strong, life-long interest in the "occult", and open, active engagement in this , and, with it all, especially in-famously known for his "Babalon working" (look at the specific picture that the 23:00h time angular planets provide!).

Neither Sedna nor Eris were known & used by astrologers during his life, nor were there at the time tools for angularity calculations available that we have now, so we can beyond doubt discard the possibility that some then-contemporary astrologer took these factors into consideration in order to come up with 23:00 as a rectified hour.

So, given the timing when this purported 20:45h birth info appeared, the actual source of it must be someone who has been both active and influential within the wider Astrology community between the time when Jack died and the present, and who has had some peculiar kind of personal stake in proving something specific, for which the 20:45h as "birth hour" is exactly suitable - so much so of a "stake" that this eventuated with a fully new "birth record data" appearing, all-of-a-sudden, about 70 years after the death of the Natus (as well as their mother as the only actually reliable first-hand-witness)  -- for an event of birth of which, during the Natus' life, the time of it has not been unknown, uncertain, nor in any way some kind of a "disputable" or "mysterious" information.

People sometimes, indeed, do go to a great length with intention to, retroactively, present historical actualities different than these actually have been, when some or another projected imagery better fits their personal preferences than the actual data; and we for sure know that astrologers have by no means been immune to this (quite on the contrary...). But this, in the long run, although bringing some meager & temporary "personal-benefit" to such people, inevitably comes to eventuate in causing huge damage - effectively obstructing, and, if kept as a tolerable, "acceptable practice" and adopted as a "norm", over time leading toward the whole of the vital stream of the given Scientific endeavor itself becoming thwarted.

There is no need here to further dwell on such appearances; for the sake of Science, and in order to not allow anything of this kind to be "pestering" unaddressed for too long until so much time has passed that it becomes practically fully impossible to see through the thick veils of obscurity, this that has been said above was necessary, and we'll let it suffice.

Now let us put attention onto what the actual data shows - acknowledging what Life itself has clearly brought up to be seen, and looking into Charts so that we can learn from what this reveals to the sight.

Looking merely at the Natal as such, the chart itself speaks with astounding precision and astrological "eloquence" of details about the character and the life; verily, it's hard -- granted one is not entirely devoid of any authentic passion for this starry-oriented-science -- to not feel, simply put, mind-blown by the perfection with which the chart depicts the known actualities of the person's life.

For a more in-depth observation, after taking a thorough look at the whole Radix chart as such, I recommend looking also at what the Novien (with strongest dynamic aspects within Novien itself, and between the Novien and Radix) has to say.

It's impractical to attempt to cover all of it in a single post like this, so here's just one facet of it, hopefully to inspire your own further observation:

It isn't a surprise to see a Virgo Sun with Mercury as intensely "spiced-up" as this (cnj Mars 1*11', sq Neptune 1*14', tri Sa-Pl 47') growing up into a chemist and showing interest in combustion. But obviously, there's far more to it than simply this in Jack's life and character.
- This peculiar "one of the most influential figures in the history of American space program" (quote from one of many internet biog.) has been engage since before he was 12 years of age in seeking & effectively-finding ways how to intentionally use and direct the energy of combustion so that it streams in a longer-term, sustained way, propelling a vehicle thus moving far, far Up and Above - through the layers of Earth's atmosphere, into the open vastness of the infinite space! - look at that clustering of Mars-Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto in the Novien itself, together with the Novien Uranus being as tightly as it is tied to the Radix Saturn-Pluto conjunction!

                                               *******************************

When it comes to events, this is fortunately one such excellent situation when we don't need to limit ourselves to checking only one, or two-the-most, of them (as is the case when we have such very limited information to work with); in cases like this, then, for the purpose of learning, and for the scientific inquiry in general, a full look-up into all the events for which the time and the location of pertinent charts is available to know is always the best way to go.
Within the context of this post, I will only go through a few examples, utilizing the period charts, leaving the rest of it for your own joy of further investigation.

                                                        *********************

The SL annual period 3/19/1934 till 3/19/1935
is the time during which Jack met two people that turned out to be among the most important personal connections for till the rest of the incarnation, Helen (with whom got married in April 1935), and Malina (who came as the essential "third part of the basic triangle" to the Parsons-Forman duo). Connection with Helen introduced him to the long-term intimate and sexual-partnering relationship; and Malina brought with his presence all the intellectual rigor of a Caltech academic into the established practices and habits of Jack & Edward, two "wildlings" experimenting to develop rocket-fuel propulsion technology - which certainly came in many ways as restricting and demanding, but also "consolidating", complementing the "older" duo with knowledge from the academic context, and bringing for Jack perfect practical conditions for further intensified learning.

The SL annual period 3/19/1938 till 3/19/1939
is the personal year of life during which, in May '38, Jack was invited by Forrest Ackerman to give lecture "on his rocketry" at the local L.A. Sci-Fi League (remember, the term "rocketry" was at the time considered to be something entirely within the fantasy/science-fiction realm, and was generally a subject of mockery by all the "wise", serious and esteemed members of the scientific academic community); and in January '39 the Baxters took him and Helen to the local Agape Lodge, where he experienced presence at the Gnostic Mass for the first time, and met Wolfe and Smith.

The SL  3/20/1942 till 3/19/1943
during which, at the very "dusk" before the "dawn" of this annual period, on 3/19/42, the Aerojet Engineering Corp was launched, and the year unfolded as an intense, and increasingly so by the day, demand for the Corp's production of JATOs for the U.S. Air Army Corp (the Aerojet turning, between the day of its launching and the following December from a group of under 15 employees, to a company of about 150 employees), with Jack finding himself "up to his neck" actively engaged in "doing the impossible", manufacturing, and improving the technology on-the-go, of rockets and propellants.
In June of 1942 an important scientific break-through took place, with Jack suddenly being "hit" by an epiphany re how to improve the efficiency & functionality of the solid-fuel he's been long working on (the Insight how to use the molten asphalt came, while he was watching a group of workers pouring this into roof tiles for repair), and "Galcit-53" was born, the "precedent changing the future of rocket technology" [as the biographer John Carter has put it].

The SL  3/19/1952
covers the final ~three months of Jack's life; after being effectively prohibited from further immediate rocketry-related work within the U.S. in January 1952, he engaged in the pyrotechnic & explosives manufacturing, intending to immigrate to Mexico with Marjorie (the trip was planned for 6/18/52), toward moving further to gradually come to conditions which enable his rocketry-work to continue. These plans were abruptly cut short with the explosion on 6/17/52 which ended his life.

The angularities of the chart:

sq r Sedna 3*15' a

-- The transiting angular combo of Mercury-Eris-Saturn, together with the natal Sedna & Neptune, give the core outline of the central themes; but the whole needs to be considered for the actual full picture.

We see that: there is the Eris presence highly emphasized (both tr and rx Eris are angular; and the SL Moon is sq SL Eris - second of its two strongest-by-orb aspects with the SL planets); there is the Sedna theme also prominently pronounced (with rx Sedna being merely 10' from MC, and SL Moon sq rx Sedna); and together with this, there is the Saturn presence emphasized as well, and in specific as Saturn-from-the-environment (the SL Saturn ang., and the SL Mo sq SL Sa).

It is no surprise that such a chart brought up surprisingly-sudden in its abruptness turn of events, and that later the phrase "under mysterious circumstances" in some way got to be directly attached to what has transpired! ( - One needs to see the Amelia Earhart's SL 6/3/1937 & LS 6/26/1937, Victor Segalen's SL 5/13/1919, Michel Gauquelin's LS 4/30/1991, or the trio of Gandhi's charts for 1/30/1948, for a full-blown & rich in details more-immediate picture of the pattern intricacies that we see showing up here.)

Sedna's presence this strong, whether it be transiting or radix (angular, only 10' from MC would itself be enough, even without having the aspect with the Moon!), speaks of events/processes which, although coming to happen via activities of specific individuals, seemingly as simply primarily some "personal affairs" of the given human/s involved, serve as channel or manifestation-substrate for peculiar energy-movements which are of larger Collective importance  --- in one or another way bringing to the surface, to be purged, or "rectified" (balanced-out), some aspect/thread of the deeper "knots" from within the realm of our collective Being that we usually call "the collective unconscious" (some or another peculiar energy-pattern or a thread thereof ripening into its open surface-emergence, so that it can be directly faced and adequately resolved).
-- What looks like "merely some personal affairs" serves, in these cases, to carry-through into expression, as a vehicle, the tremendous force of the energy that otherwise most of the time (within what's considered "normal" and "usual" circumstances in our present culture) abides fully suppressed/oppressed/deeply-hidden and blocked from its open, free surface-streaming, out-and-upward-tending, expression.

We also see the engulfment in hopes and the dreamy-naivete of the Native in the circumstances, with the tr Ju-Ne opposition across the Meridian, paired with the rx Sun on IC --- the desire and plans to gradually work on finding-a-way-out of what was undeniably felt as being-caged-in situation.

And we see the renewed vitality, and the psyche being Ready-For-The-Fresh-Start, in the closest aspects of the SL Moon (sq SL Ur, sq r Su, oct r Ve)...

This is what has colored the final cca three months. Let's then take a look more closely into the active factors at the time of death itself, 6/17/1952.

The pertinent monthly chart, LS 6/3/52, has the combo of:
t N.Node, Mercury and Venus (with this Ve being strongly tied with t Pluto, but Pluto being slightly out of the 10* orb zone), and accompanying this,
rx Jupiter and Uranus.

And its "demi", the bi-weekly chart LS 6/15/52 has:
t N.Node very tight on Nadir (and tightly aspected by t Pluto, but with t Pl again slightly out of the 10* angular-proximity zone), and together with this,
rx Venus and N.Node.

-- Both of these charts emphasize that whatever it is that is happening, the primary theme of the period is: it's about Connection of life-important scope and kind

On the day (at 17:45h PDT),
the pSl Moon came to participate in the following exact aspect-configuration:

sq pSL Saturn 11'
cnj pSL Chiron 58'
opp t Uranus 20'

While the transiting Eris and the N.Node, came, in pair, exact to the SL Moon's position:
t Eris sq 59' a ( = just entered orb!)
t N.Node oct 57' a

And during the time when the transiting Uranus was conjunct Natal ASC, orb 40' a, at the day and time.

The transits to SL picture (the dynamic partile aspects not existing in the SL itself!) then gives further valuable information; here's the full list -- the info about tr planets to the SL Moon is repeated, but I don't want to leave it out in the listing, so that you can get the complete picture of all of it present at the exact moment of death:

Neptune oct Venus 04' s
Mercury sq Eris 06' a
Uranus sq Saturn 30' s
Saturn opp Eris 46' s
N.Node oct Eris 50' a
N.Node oct Moon 57' s
Eris sq Moon 59' a

So, we see, however it may look from the outside and at simple-glance on the surface, this event was not a primarily Mars-kind of event! - yes, Mars was present (as will be seen in the tr to rx listing), and acted as a peculiar "trigger mechanism" within the whole context of the active combination of factors, but the main tone (the theme, the key-quality) of the event and the experience for the native was Eris with the Lunar Node, together with the Saturn-Uranus combo.

Transits to radix at the day and time:

Chiron oct Venus 15' a
Mars cnj Mercury 22' a
Mars oct Chiron 27' s
Uranus sq Sedna 36' s
Chiron sq Sun 37' a
Uranus cnj Asc 40' a
Sun sq Eris 41' a
Mars sq Neptune 51' s

Soli-Lunar and Luni-Solar charts

The Soli-Lunar and Luni-Solar charts

The Sidereal astrological community has long been utilizing the Return charts for prognostics in the realm of individual/natal astrology. Since Fagan’s time onward, the way these Return charts have been, as a tool, used is by: calculating when a given Light (the Sun or the Moon) comes to the same zodiac position (the degree, minute and second of arc in longitude) as it has been at the moment of person’s birth, and looking at the main factors of the chart thus obtained (the angularity, and the aspects between planets). We know these as the Solar and the Lunar return charts, pertaining to the annual and monthly tide of individual’s life, respectively.
The two Lights in astrology symbolically represent the two eyes of the human visual-perception (our capacity for Seeing); each complements the other, and, in accordance to our inherent natural structuring in this regard, for direct Looking and most clear, precise Seeing, the natural healthy human condition requires simultaneous use of both eyes.
While we certainly can use only one of the Pair of Eyes at a time, and thus perform the observation (the operations of Looking, intent toward Seeing), there’s only so much that we can See by doing so, and the quality of what we’re able to observe in this manner is, naturally, limited.
The Solar return and the Lunar return, as they have been so far most commonly used within the modern-day Sidereal tradition, represent this kind of partial and limited viewing: calculated for the moment of time-space which represents the Luminary body’s (that of the Sun or of the Moon) relationship with itself, as tools, these charts provide only segmentary information about the pertinent, annual or monthly, individual person’s tides. -- Much like the Venus Return, or the Mars return, etc, these charts simply portray the rhythms of individual development and experience pertinent to the given Luminary they're the Return-chart of, the Solar return pertaining to the individual development of the Solar ergie within the psyche, and the Lunar return to the Lunar ergie.
These charts being one major tool in our astrological toolkit for Understanding the individual experience on the level of annual and monthly rhythms, and, from observation and knowledge thus gained, developing the ability to accurately prognosticate based upon their use (foresee the exact quality/nature of periods in advance, and with unfaltering precision in this), the ancient Science of Astrology is still, even today, within the realm of obscurity: by utilizing this tool in a way that is enabling us to only partially Look and See, using only a single eye, of our pair of eyes, at a time, instead the pair of them simultaneously together, we have not been able to in such a way establish our efforts as to get this, truly the oldest scientific endeavor of human there is, to its proper place.
The Annual and Monthly Period-charts which “utilize both eyes simultaneously” (to keep this simple and direct visual metaphor) are the charts when each of the two Luminary bodies comes to the other’s position in the zodiac:
---> when the Sun, in its movement, comes to the exact place in the zodiac where the person’s own Moon is (of the natal chart), this is the Soli-Lunar chart, depicting the individual’s experience on the annual-tide-level;
---> when the Moon, in its movement, comes to the exact zodiac location where the person’s natal Sun is, this is the Luni-Solar chart, depicting the person’s experience on the monthly-tide-level.
(In practice, the monthly charts operate on the bi-weekly level, so by calculating both the chart for the moment of Moon’s conjunction, and another for its opposition to the person’s natal Sun, we get to see this Luni-Solar’s tide in more details, and are able to give more fine-tuned information when it comes to timing of events, alongside with predicting the type/nature/kind of person’s experience.)
The general approach in how we look into these charts is pretty simple: we consider the Angularity of planets involved, and their mutual aspects (the unique connections and the clusterings/groupings); we take into account: the orb of the Angularity of planets involved, and the whole picture obtained from a specific combination of planets “active” (prominently present) in the given return chart. The distinction between transiting and natal planets is a factor of key interpretative importance.
By taking these factors into consideration, we get from each chart a unique picture, such that provides the description of the essential quality/nature of the person’s experience for the time-period that the chart applies to.
Together with utilizing the tool-kit of Transits to the Natal, and the progressions of the Natal-chart (the Solar Arc, and the Secondary Progressions, as the two basic techniques which have proven themselves to be the “bare essentials” of indispensable astrologer’s prognosticating “equipment”), this tool of the Soli-Lunar and Luni-Solar returns allows us to “foresee” the events in individual’s life with accuracy of timing and of the description of nature/quality of experience that otherwise (by utilizing the more familiar/popularly-known Solar & Lunar returns, in combination with the transits+progressions toolkit) we can not achieve.

[ For insight, in the practical sense, on the how of approaching these charts, you can look into the examples, here on the blog, for different events/personal-experiences of popularly known people. Since not every event is in the in-your-face kind of way clearly illustrative, so that it's very easy to directly see the difference described, in value and from practical-application perspective, between the SSR-SLR and the SL-LS toolkits, I'll be focusing primarily on posting examples which do portray this, and are useful for the reader's understanding of how to approach the analysis/interpretation of these charts. Feel free to ask questions in the comments, or to email me! ]
P.S. The Page here titled as this post contains more information - the notes about Interpretation-approach to the LS charts are included.

Anne Heche - death

This event has happened recently (from the time I'm posting here), so no specific introduction is necessary, the readers certainly remember from the news the details of how it went. [Her birth info can be found on astrodatabank, AA-rated data.]

It is an excellent example of the difference in value for prognosticating of the two different techniques of SSR-SLR  and the SL-LS toolkit.

If we did not know about the SL-LS toolkit, and have only utilized the partial, single-body Return technique of the SSR and the SLR, we would have not in the slightest been able to predict the event - not even come close to in advance depict, by using our astrological tools, the quality of the given shorter period (monthly/bi-weekly) for the Natus, let alone expect this to be a period when the person may actually die.
--- By what her current, pertinent to the time, SSR and SLR show, this was an exceptionally Venusian period for her, with the current SLR emphasizing the Jovial as the main theme - transiting Jupiter being the strongest factor present angular!

The SL-LS toolkit , on the other side (even with the absence of precise info about where she was when the SL has set!), gives an accurate and clear, direct picture:

Leaving the angularities aside, for we don't know for sure the location when the current SL set (9/13/2021), and the chart pertains to the whole year of life and experience, can't be taken to speak of only this event (- with note of importance, though: the SL Moon in the chart has only one aspect: cnj r Mars),
here's the situation of the p SL Moon on 8/5/22 at 10:55h, Mar Vista:

p SL Moon 3*15' Sag
sq SL Mars 42' a
sq r N.Node 17' a
- and tr Sun came to "light it up",
oct p SL Mo 01' at 10:55h local time.

Looking at the current monthly chart, to see how has she been feeling, generally, at the time (with Mar Vista as reference location):

LS 7/23/22

t Saturn WP-a  34'
t Sedna MC  3*36'
t Moon MC  5*49
t N.Node MC  9*01'

r Neptune IC  45'
r Sun MC  6*09'

... if we knew nothing about the events, and only used this chart to describe the Native's condition during the period, we'd clearly see: they don't feel well at all, to say the least - feeling heavily oppressed, potentially even outright suicidal.
(Depending on the specific practical details and overall psychological stability of the Natus, the rx Neptune in this exact combo as such can turn either way, toward numbing-oneself-out, or toward some mystical/artistic activity as way of processing and sublimating the experience - this we wouldn't know from charts alone, w/o having any practical info about the person. But in any case, with seeing in advance this specific LS in the context of the current SL Moon's situation, we'd be alerted.)

Juliane Koepcke - 12/24/1971

Juliane Koepcke - 12/24/1971

On this date, the then 17-years old Juliane, fell from a lightening-bolt struck airplane (LANSA flight 508), to the ground, landing in the Amazon jungle, somewhere between Tournavista and the Panguana research station.

She spent about 10 days alone with the jungle wilderness, wounded and with developing wounds-infestation from insect bites, until managing to find an encampment (there initially using gasoline found in a boat-tank to quick-aid treat the arm infestation, and then being found by the local people and brought to hospital).
Of the 93 passengers and crew on the plane, she was the only person to survive the crash.

The Nativity is marked by the 20' wide Jupiter cnj Uranus, with both of them under 30' from IC - this is the peculiar feature of the chart that is not merely one of the strongest, by orb, chart factors, but is in whole the central unique marker of this chart, with this conjunction being so tight and also both of them being so sharply on the Angle (Uranus is 07' from IC, Jupiter 22'!).
This aspect has been famous for its "effect" of denoting some kind of *remarkable*, exceptional, out-of-the-ordinary, the what-is-considered Luck of the nativity that features it. Ebertin gave it the nick-name "Thank the Lord!" aspect: "[...] because people having such configuration have repeatedly exclaimed the words "Thank the Lord" after the release of the tension or strain for which they were suffering." (- R.Ebertin, COSI, pg 172).

For Juliane, this 12/24/1971 event of having landed alive -- and in condition well enough to manage to find her way toward salvation and healing -- after the plane-crush (and at that, a plane stricken by a lightening bolt!), coming out of it as the survivor, a sole one, amidst the whole group of 93 people aboard, has certainly been not only "one among many" of manifestations of her unique Ju-Ur conjunction as the peculiar stand-out mark of her Nativity, but one such which has, both, affected in a definite & remarkable way the rest of her life, as well as made her world-known for this experience. --- She is a child of two scientists, and herself a scientist as well, but her name is primarily connected to this peculiar eventitude, as a rare example of such an outstanding, extraordinary type of individual "luck".

She was residing at the time, as a finishing high-school student, in Lima, Peru; on the day of the event, she took the plane from Lima (together with her mother), to get to Panguana, the biological research station in the Amazon forest, where her parents have been residing.

They boarded at around 11 AM, and the plane took off from Lima at around Noon on the day; at exactly Noon, transiting Mars was at 4*20' Pisces - 18h away from entering orb conjunct Juliane's natal Moon. The Mars was within 1* of orb with the natal Moon then during the following 2.5 days (till morning of December 28th), which we can ascertain to must have been the harshest, emotionally & physically most challenging period for her, of this whole peculiar 10-days adventure.

From the pertinent SSR, and the SLR charts (all three of them which one could look at - including the one that still hasn't set at the exact time of event, but a few hours later, on 12/24 at 16:25h), we would be brought to conclude that there is some sudden change re the native's emotional life/intimate relations (the active chart for the event, DSLR 12/10), as the most pronounced theme of the period, and that the person is currently experiencing some hardship and strain, most likely coming as something from-the-environment/circumstances (prog. SSR Moon oct p. sol. Saturn 26' S), although it's not excluded it's initiated from the Native's side as well (rx Mercury-Saturn duo as closest angular, and in whole strongest factor of the current SLR, 11/27).

None of these speak about either the actual primary key themes of the sequence of events and the experience for Native, nor do they in any way provide the information about what's been the simple, unavoidable to see as such, central marker-theme of this peculiar period and the 12/24 event: the Native's survival of a sudden plane-crush, and so that not only did she happen to simply get-alive, but in a remarkable way, managing to find her way out of the wilderness of Amazonian jungle after spending 10 days alone there, in conditions of both physically and emotionally having been affected by the deadly-hit of the event of the crash.

The LS 12/12/71, on the contrary, clearly communicates the message about the Native's experience:
The strongest factors present, by orb, are: transiting Mars and natal Moon (with n Moon being the sole natal angular planet present) --- something hurtful, aggressive, in a way invasive/violent, is meeting the Native from the environment; their own adaptation needs, immediate feeling of safety & security in a very intimate, biological/physical, as well as psychological sense (n Moon) is being thus affected, and called-forth to be primarily focalized in expression.
The rest of the picture then gives additional details: together with these two as strongest, there're: transiting Mercury, Sun and Jupiter also angular.
From this, we see simply & directly the main theme. She had to deal with the life-threatening aggressiveness of the circumstances (t Mars), while being in peculiar way psycho-biologically present to all the details of the conditions (n Moon)- fully receptive for even the tiniest shift in the whole of information-stream from without & within, and rapidly, instinctively responding to everything, in a fast adaptation/adjustment manner, toward keeping herself alive.
And in the whole of it (the chart is pertinent to the 4 weeks beginning with 12/12, and primarily depicting the first two weeks of this period), we see, as other/additional prominent features going along with this central theme (t Mars= n Moon): presence of: Mercury-related themes (communication/transportation, learning etc), Sun-related themes (authority figures/officials) and Jupiter-related themes (protection, support, etc) - with all of this characterizing what's *coming from the side of the environment* (transiting planets).

We don't know her exact location on 12/25 at 21:35 h local time, when the LS-chart for the second half of this personal month-of-life has commenced; this is the period during which: she gradually moved to come to conditions of receiving help, toward recuperating, and also, learned about her mother's death and about herself being the sole survivor of all the people aboard.
This bi-weekly chart would be informative for the period 12/25/71 21:30h till 1/8/72 at 8:31h local time; but even with knowing the exact location and being able to see this bi-weekly chart, the main themes for that whole current individual month of life (12/12/71 - 1/8/72) are depicted by the LS 12/12.

Due to this event being of such life-importance, I don't want to give attention only to the weekly/daily factors, but want to share here with you the valuable details of the full list of the SL's angular planets and the Lunar aspects (which depict her year of life: 3/21/71 - 3/30/72):

SL 3/21/1971 (Lima)
t Jupiter MC 8*03'
r Pluto DC 5*53'
(that's the whole picture of Angularity!)

SL Moon at 22*09' Sag, with dynamic aspects:
sq r Sun 52' a
oct SL Neptune 1*29' a
sq SL Mercury 2*35' s
sq SL Eris 4*18' s
sq SL Uranus 4*28' s

Considering the whole of this picture, we see: it's a year of major life-change(s), bringing up such events which put to the fore (prompt to most directly-being-expressed) the Native's Pluto-ergie of their psyche: the inner primal, Authentic aspects of this individual human being's existence are coming to, in some prominent way, be openly/directly expressed, during the course of the year; and this within circumstances which we can, in a general way, depict as "favorable for the Native", supportive of their well-being, etc (t Jupiter); with the combo of these two together speaking of big, important turn in Native's life-conditions (a turn essentially "for the good", from perspective of Native's own experience - it's transiting Jupiter - although by no means necessarily coming up in ways which are immediately at the time pleasant, or seen/felt as "easy" to go through).
The Lunar aspects then "fill" this with more details.
The natal Sun, and as tightest by orb, speaks about the Native's Life, their unique vitality-individuality being in some way brought into focus and required to be expressed. The Native is *important* in some emphasized manner to their environment during this year (at the very least, receiving far greater than usual attention, if not coming in some peculiar way to be seen by the "public eye" as a Person-of-Prominence).
The combination of the SL planets involved, together with this -- Mercury, Eris, Uranus and Neptune! -- is depicting the sudden-crash-of-airplane-struck-by-lightening, all with the shocking and confusing and dramatically-disturbing of it, rather very explicitly!

.... We've seen the LS for the monthly tide, and we've seen the transiting Mars coming over natal Moon for the shorter, few-days-only related, tide.

And then, 12/24 brought, as the specific day, an exact Sun-Pluto square in space, which came to be exactly (within 1* of orb) "interlaced" with her Direct Natal Midpoint of Venus/Saturn!

But what I find, from astrological perspective - when all the relevant charts and factors are examined - as truly mind-blowing, regarding the overall nature and the essential quality of this particular eventitude in time for this particular Nativity - an event in Juliane's life which was not merely "one of", but on the life-scale came to transpire as The Event, a direct, clear-cut, pronounced and unambiguous expression of the UNIQUE dominant mark of her specific Natal chart ( -- that "Thank the Lord" aspect, the "Surprise-hit of Extraordinary Luck" combination -- ) - is with what perfection this came to be "timed" by the aspects of the progressed SL Moon:

[Orbs on the day, 12/24/71, at Noon local time]

p SL Moon 2*42' Cap ---
opp r Uranus (3*20' Can) 38' a
opp r Jupiter (3*40' Can) 58' a
- and all of it:
oct t Mercury (2*52' Rims - at Noon) !!!
