MidPoint structurings: The Evolving Perspectives

... There are, naturally, many events (process-plateaus, with this either in Initiating or the Culminating sense) which happen on Earth and from-perspective-of-the-Earth appear as highly Very-Important, while from-perspective-of-the-Sun in relation to Earth & her processes, they show to be not even nearly of as much of significance. 

 And then, also, there are phases (period-tides) which from-perspective-of-the-Sun in relation to Earth *are* highly significant, whilst during the time these are transpiring the human species amongst the Earthlings may not at all be aware of anything whatsoever of some kind of a Huge Importance (for the processes on Earth herself) is undergoing its peak-unfolding.

AND then, there are such period-tides which, in-relation-to-Earth and her processes/events show as undeniably significant, in a focalized manner, both from-perspective-of-the-Earth & from-perspective-of-the-Sun. 

The easiest way to observe this -- and to do so comparatively, from both Geocentric & Heliocentric perspective -- is on the rhythm-level of what we here on Earth experience as one natural monthly-tidal-wave, from one to another Conjunction between the Sun & the Moon, and what from the Heliocentric view is the time-unit tidal-wave spanning from one until the next moment of the Moon being right-in-between the Earth and the Sun. 

Or, in other words, practically & more briefly put: by using the period of one-natural-month, each such commencing with the Soli-Lunar longitudinal conjunction-alignment, as the basic time-unit reference. 

These  Syzygy charts, of course, can from the Geocentric perspective be looked at in relation to some or another specific location on Earth, in order to see what this-or-that planetary function/"ergie" (or their combination) --- by being Mundanely-focalized via its spatial position within the "3-great-circles-crossed Grid" at the given Syzygy moment --- is getting especially emphasized during the pertinent month, and as something which is of relevance exclusively for that one considered specific location on Earth.

For the general Geo-Helio comparative observation, though, these planetary 'mundane positions' (or what is often also called their Angularity) is not something of importance, the perspective, when it comes to Earth, being that of: observing the harmonic rhythm-processes relevant for the wholeness-unit ( -- the wholeness of this one of the "organs", or "functions" within the Solar System) which is Terra. 

Both the Sun and the Earth being --- each of the two, of course, in its own, mutually *very* different, and overall quite unique way --- long-term-operative-"parts" or "faculties" (functional-aspect-wholes) of the Solar system,  the fundamental astrological "tool", in this regard, for discerning the tidal movements of the related, most-immediately relevant rhythm-processes, is the observation of the mutual configurations --- and especially: their Flux in time --- shown by the planetary Midpoints-structuring. 

The fundamental simplicity of these  planetary-structuring compositions, showing their mutual inter-relatedness, is such that it requires no special "interpreting" effort of any kind --  even for an entirely-new-beginner in Astrology, there's hardly anything mysterious or "hard to grasp" about the basic notion of *a trio of bodies, positioned so that there is a pair and right-in-between them is a third*, which is the verbal description of a Direct Midpoint  mutual inter-connectedness that with symbols is represented as: 

"such-&-such" [the in-between factor] = "such-&-such" / "such-&-such" [the two other factors, which with the exactly-between-them one form the given specific trio], like, for example: 

Ve = Sa/Ur.

Furthermore:
 it is not at all a this or that  "interpretation" (as in a situation of: one human reading/interpreting an astro-chart of another human to them) which we're looking to "come to", or to "come up with" by looking at these charts with their Midpoints-structuring in the comparative way!

 Rather than to some verbal-explanation, this observation is oriented-to & navigated-by what is a much simpler process: looking, in order to See the existing inter-connectedness-combinations of the main operative-faculties of the most-immediate wider space-time-environment, relevant as such both for-the-Earth, as well as for-the-Sun, and pertinent to a given time-space tide/period/"instance".

Undoubtedly, for the one approaching such a combination-picture, there already exist certain specific words and ideas within their conscious & subconscious mind, which are automatically attached to the symbol-glyphs seen, when seen; and these came to be thus formulated & related to the astrological, planetary glyphs through one's peculiar experiences of information-exposure thus far.

Some of them may be fully-accurately-fitting to what's the actual natural-functionality of the given body, and in the way that this can be in an adequate way applied to an analysis like this; some of them far less so, and the most of them tend to actually be entirely "off".
Various psychological & experiential factors influence this process of verbal-formulation related to the meaning of a given planetary-factor, and for how-long, in terms of Earthly years during the given person's lifetime, has one been using such a set of verbal-ideas in connection to a given symbol, is not somehow "by itself a guarantee" that these ideas are actually *fitting*, in the sense of: accurately fitting, in a wider (and more-universally-applicable) way ( -- than some personal-human-related immediacy of appearance), to what is the deepest, most fundamental: at-the-very-root of it, as one of main Solar-system's operative-bodies, intrinsic uniqueness of the natural-functionality of the given such-&-such astrological factor.

The practically healthiest approach, therefore, is based on what can be called a "three-fold stream" - to use that, however perhaps funny sounding, as a dynamic visual depiction here for practical purposes - such that one is ongoingly internally "positioned", simultaneously, in: 

---> openness for gathering information about the astrological planetary-factors through a wide variety of *diverse* reading-sources on the subject, with considering what is encountered in each of these as: potentially-valuable or potentially worthless (regardless of "how old" or "how widely-known" the given "source" may be!) depending on *what it shows to be in one's own practical Observation during a longer period of time*; --- WHILE ALSO, and this is of *huge importance*:

--->  with full open-mindedness, from the perspective of: *what is it here to be Learned, what New and not-seen/known thus-far for me are the Life's unfoldings showing via this such-&-such ?* approaching the practical experiences, one's own life-events, and the noticed processes within environment --- as a continual practice, with neutral approach to events and the Life-appearances as such: not, as they're encountered, with automatically & immediately labeling-them/determining this or that "their astrological category", but with intentional & conscious effort to: be Present-with the given process/appearance itself, as it is, whatever-it-is, from the internal actual condition of openness-of-question, an intentionally-nurtured *automatic readiness to Learn from* that which comes-in-experience, rather than the *automated readiness to "see" it in a determined/defined/already-known way* by the subconsciously-based and from-therein-working default-tendency mechanisms of immediately attaching to it one or another narrowed, very-specific idea - for the sake of thus feeling-safe in encountering-a-something-already-"known", instead of the often far-more-disturbingly-feeling alternative of internally firmly "residing" in the openness-of-question condition, for which everything encountered, and however there may be some features of what appears as already-seen-and-known to it, fundamentally contains a wholly-Unknown in itself -- arriving therefore within our scope of perception, and experience, exactly so that *this* becomes revealed!.

AND while also:

---> proceeding thus, with being fully willing and determined *to Learn* [not to show/present oneself as already-knowing-something in an ultimately-defining-way, either to own-self or to others!] moving toward thus coming to actually *Know* what can be at-the-given-time known, from *one's own Observation*: what various different experiential factors, processes and practically-noticed phenomena some given astrological symbol is fully functionally serving as a unified-representation of,  presenting invariably thus itself to be *in-retrospect*, *after* the initial neutral, naked presence-with and observation-of these processes/events, which has been *thereafter* accompanied by an earnest, as deep and as long as possible, meditation on the various verbal-formulations and ideas related to this or that planet -- with continuity to it, and approached as: "okay, in light of the unfolding-and-evolving Experience, this such-and-such idea is potentially-valuable, and potentially worthless, or may even be harmful for the further Learning process! --- and  with examining them thus Anew, and anew - unflinchingly. 

AND, making your own Notes (with dates to them!) of this journey, about both the processes, and the insights.  

This, certainly, both itself *is*, as well as it necessitates, at least *some* (prior to beginning with the Astrological observations as such) deeper, done with all-solemnity (and without any doubt to it *very hard*) work. 

It requires training of the whole of one's psycho-biological capacities (not *solely* the intellectual/thinking ones, but the emotional and physical too --- with the emotional *especially*, extremely important, for the intellectual ones to at all stand-a-chance to be further in-a-healthy-way developing....) in order to in-practice be continually performed in such a way so that the *actually* unbiased, the-least-possibly blindfolded by these or that personal tendencies, interests, fears, desires, etc, Observation can be transpiring --- conducted, and thus *persistently*, and solely thus! - with the adequate psychological both Openness & Neutrality, as well as capacity-for what is: Looking-in-order-to-See, instead of Looking-in-order-to thus-Gain/take-something via this process (to "obtain" - a "knowledge", an insight/information, etc). 

Such work is not "for everyone" --- it is only for those who truly internally feel it to be own undeniable imperative for their approach, to not just the Astrological, but simply any Observation of scientific kind, by giving to it, in wholeness of what they are and do (and doing so ongoingly, throughout-time), one's own veritably *utmost-best*. 

It requires such inherent internal Respectful perception of what is Science and what is Learning, which values and honors the processes of authentically Moving-toward and of Revealing what is true, beyond what's one's own personal feeling-of-safety, or feeling-of-self-satisfaction, or feeling-of-comfort at some or another given period, or one's-own current personal bio-physical existence which one calls own-life. 

It, at the very root, requires such an I-Thou pair-relationship presence-in the living-the-life-on-Earth which has a Third in it, the Value of which far overarches any segmentary-appearance of the "I" (the-experiencer/observer-point) or the "You" (the-otherness in the experiencing-process, the what-is-Seen), or their mutually-defining interplay as a self-feeding enclosed-loop-polarity, the sole "value" of which is in nothing outside of itself as such and the sole "functionality-purposefulness" of which is for itself to simply proceed -- exactly-as-it-is, with its dual mutually-polarized factors entirely occupied by the futility of thus simply "ping-ponging", for as-long-as-it-can.

... This Movement including the Midle-positioned, and so that it's Overarching (either encompassing, or inherently refining-&-uplifting, and evolvingly-prompting for-the-duo pertinent to it) both and each of the included polarized sides,  is open-ended:
every plateau of a  completion-phase to it that arrives, is, by itself, immediately not "followed-by" but *it itself is* the entry-way into the new, the-Next phase: a qualitatively different-yet learning-openness, being-the-question, movement-stage. 

... There is no "reward" to it either than this - the very Movement itself, as it is: there is not some ultimate-crowning-result, after which this Movement itself comes to cease-to-be. 
For, it is a Movement that is neither fearfully-running-away-from nor hungrily-running-fervently-toward, a something or other:  its inherent most-fundamental rhythm is the peaceful-dance-of-Joy together-with, in-presence-of, the Truth as the "third": that which goes-through all the mutually-polarized duality, and which overarches each of the dual, polarized sides --- being as such mutually "encountered" at any point, by either of the two-sides, that can in any way thus be experienced ....

... So, with that being said, let's now -- not "back", but Forward! -- take a directly-focused look again at this our subject: the Midpoints in an astro-chart structure-composition, and with consideration as well of the wider inquiry about approaching this as a tool, in practically usable sense, of comparative observation of the Geocentric and Heliocentric monthly-period related charts.

Aside from the what's the-very-fundamental structure-simplicity of a single Midpoint as such, with each chart being observed in its entirety, with its "details"/parts taken together as composing-aspects, all of them, of the one single unit-wholeness, the multitude of such three-fold mutual-interconnectedness clusterings, in a tightly-interwoven manner as these show up in a Midpoint-structuring listing -- may indeed very-well appear as an utterly-complex "something":

for each chart that's thus being observed, in order to See what *the whole picture* of the given structuring-composition "depicts", or Communicates (either with or without using some or another peculiar set of already-attached-to-the-symbols, with-pre-defined as already-fully-understood, verbally-formulated meanings ....), it is not enough to merely discern one or another part of it, make a note of only few of the Midpoints existing therein and therefore consider it a "job done" -- taking this partial, fragmented approach as something fully, scientific-inquiry-wise, "adequately fitting".

--- Beyond doubt, an appearance that easily tends to give headaches not only to beginners, but to the long-experienced and well-versed in Observation astrologers, too!

So, what to do?

First and foremost: do keep looking-on --- without shying-away from checking as many charts as you possibly can and are naturally feeling-drawn-to be doing so!!
--- And keep making notes. ---  With equal Open-questioning calmness-of-focus determination, equal proper-attention and internal orientation, to each "detail", each "part this and that" as these, over time, come to the forefront of awareness --- all-the-while, not, during this, losing touch, internally departing-away-from, the central, primary question-openness  --- as an yet-unanswered, not-yet-known, but certainly, without any doubt to it, such that it *is* answerable at-its-time-for-this due!! --- of: "what is it here that the wholeness present reveals?"

When the step-ways (all with their by-ways!) of the inquiry-path are thus truly, in practical sense, well-trodden, each earnestly taken with adequate attention-focus, as you simply go-no, continuing with the to-each-step/detail adequate approach, the answers for what has been left *to-further-proceed-going-with* as an still-open-question (while the "closure" to its open-spiral-curve not being sought-for with a haste nor any kind of some fervent-desire-urge to "get-hold-of" it) by themselves spontaneously start emerging. 

And: thereafter, whether it be after some more- or a les-so lengthy time, do not hesitate to thoroughly revisit what has at one point perhaps emerged as so fully-and-wholly entirely discerned, with such a pitch-clarity that there's-"absolutely-nothing-further"-to-it  which would now be of Learning-value to, in the wholehearted openness-of-Learning manner, approach anew. 

... There is a pictograph image-symbol in the Yi Jing,  蹇, which, verbally-formulated in English language, conveys the meaning of "The foot utmost-trained", of which I am being reminded now, while writing these lines.

Is the foot-utmost-trained some such a foot that has undergone by-quantity the-greatest-possible (compared to all other feet that it could be compared) mileage ? ... Isn't the foot-utmost-trained such that it must be verily *the*-most-exhausted, the most weary of-them-all, foot !? ... Ah, ah -- perhaps, perhaps!   --- One would need to have-and-be-using such a one, in order to very-practically, and without any place for uncertainty, be in the full-actual-knowing about it, nay? :)

 --- But, this is for sure: the HOW has it been trained [not in regard of the terrain -- these vary, and the utmost-trained foot *must* pass through all of them as they come up, pleasantly-looking more or less, unwalkable-seeming in-full or only to-an-extent... but: in regards of the *how* of the-movement-of-the-foot itself!] is of *enormous*, one'd even dare say, of veritably all-important, both Value and the overall-significance:
the properly well-trained foot, capable of elegantly-smooth, sustained, dance-like swift movement, spontaneously becomes only stronger & stronger over time, simply by the continuous activity -- with the quality of it as it is -- that it performs --- so it by no means is a foot tending easily to become exhausted by the appearance of the ever-more, ever yet-a-new, opening-up of the pathway-steps before it, as what is being encountered-by and engaged-into, in its peculiar harmonious, swift dancing-movements!

And, indeed, it is not the *quantity* of miles, as such, which makes a foot to be the-utmost-trained! --- All of it is about the: *HOW* (the exactly *quality* of it) have those miles which have-been-trodden, have been thus gone-through. 

... In order to train a foot thus actually adequately, properly-well, to train it in what's ---  for itself, as well as for everything it may encounter while it moves --- the best-possible way, one has to: know the given foot exceptionally well (so that no doing-with-it something contrary to its nature is performed!), and along with this, invariably, to: Love the given foot, with such a loving which is seeking nothing but to, plainly, enjoy in the sight of the Beauty of it, seeing it at every its visible tiny-step-movement-instance, simply being the-happiest-foot it can possibly be. 

... And: to proceed Learning about it, with and through *each* of its steps-performed, however tiny or "insignificant" some of these may at some moments appear! --- for it naturally changes in-the-going, by the going, and to miss to timely notice something of it (any of it, really!), may not only incapacitate the further training process, in regards to what's its-unique-utmost-best, but may easily even entirely bring not only the further training-capacities and that process, but the whole movement of the foot as such, to the-end.

The processes of evolution of Life on Terra Solis include the process of evolution of the Anthropos species' perspective ( - while it is living, , in the Earthly-physical-bodies --- and with fullness-of-presence in- & to- this --- *on Earth*!), with what's the primary "situated-ness" or centeredness-of-the-observing-consciousness naturally coming to undergo a shift: from what's collectively thus far been the most-accustomed & *exclusively*-geo-centric perspective, to the new one - characterized by continuous widening, via each the-Next-Step ... the perspective for which the experientially-known Wholeness of the observable-*Thou*-horizon of its *I*-hub-centeredness is, thus further on-goingly, ever-more-clearly Seen, & ever-more-deeply understood in actuality of Its ceaseless Expansion. 

Not by departing-the-Earth, not "despite" the Earth, not "against" the Earth.
*With* the Earth.
The Dance of her indeed doesn't even in-the-slightest, in any way, lack Perfection.

It is with much disbalance-of-thinking that one may be easily prone to miss this, believing the matter to be some kind of a reasoning-issue! -- While the whole "secret" isn't a secret at all: shamelessly, with full-naked-openness it reveals itself to the body's-wholeness attunement of Hearing-&-Sight able and daring to endure -- hub-centered thus with a childlike presence -- the flooding-river-akin mighty continuity of the Celestial-Streaming moving *through* the heart.

THE ZODIAC

The traveller Earth, like a dervish-dancer, spins on its own axis. From perspective of an observer stationary located at one place on its surface, this is a rhythmic turning toward & away-from the Sun; and if the observer is at a non-polar region, during such one turn there are two distinct phases: one with the Sun above horizon, and the other when its visible disk is hidden from sight, behind the zone of the horizon-area.

 

The length of each of these portions of one such spin-turn gradually waxes and wanes during the course of one pulse-tide of the planet's dance-movement around the Sun; and twice in a single such wave-unit, the length of the Sun-above and Sun-below horizon portions of the on-own-axis rotation are mutually quantitatively equal; we call these occasions Equinoctes.

 

And in relation to the plane of planet's annual motion, the angular position of this its axis isn't stationary: it "wobbles", or gyrates - and does so in a steady rhythmical beat as well: turning one whole round at a frequency of cca 26,000 annual tide dance-turns.

 

If on the planet's surface there is an observer endurable & patient enough - say, for practical illustrative purposes, a stone with its peculiar way of witnessing such things - capable of recording/remembering what's seen, and making note of what stars are visible on the Eastern horizon immediately pre-dawn on each subsequent year on one of the Equinox days (it can be Vernal or Autumnal, and the observer can be located on the North or the South of planet's hemispheres - choose your pick), it'd see the Zodiac-belt stars "wheeling" around, in the ~26,000 annual tide-beats rhythm, with the specific 12 segments of this belt-area gradually appearing and disappearing, following one another and this in sequence with opposite direction of that in which the Luminary-discs and the "wanderer stars" (planets) traverse the same space area: the visibility of the Sagittarius-zone, followed by visibility of the Scorpio-zone, followed by visibility of the Libra-zone, and so forth, in a rhythmical beat of each of the 12 being thus present, before the next-in-sequence starts appearing, for about 2,167 annual tides.

 

This phenomenon is generally known by the term "Astrological ages".

 

A North-hemisphere located observer at current time, looking at this at Vernal Equinox day pre-dawn moments, will notice the stars within Pisces constellation (belonging within first 5*-6* degrees of it, counted Luminary/planetary-annual-movement direction-wise).

 

That same portion-area of the Zodiac as it has been pre-dawn appearing at the given Equinox-day during ~24,000 BC; as it's been appearing during ~179,000 BC; as it's been appearing during ~ 361,000 BC ... in brief: at every ~26,000 years since after the Earth-Moon system's birth our planet's axial tilt "settled" into motion-position configuration of this its ~23*-inclination-to-Solar/ecliptic-plane, ~26,000 own years for a full gyro-turn, rhythm - till the present day.

 

Have the conditions on Earth, and, in specific, the peculiar *quality* of what we know as Evolution of Life here, been the same as they are now, in, say, ~24,000 BC, as they were in ~50,000 BC, as they were in ~76,000 BC etc, - during each of these periods when the Vernal/Autumnal point has been aligned with this same zone-area of the Zodiac?

- The answer is so clear that the question itself is funny, indeed, even merely as a thought.

 

Yet - hold your breath! - there's something *even more* hilarious: for ages now (all puns intended), there've been 'astrologers' spouting-out their 'wisdom' which in a defining manner speaks of the Zodiac as a loopy-circular-knot: "Oh, at root, it's eternal return of the same", say they, "it's just about the variations in manifest forms" (indeed, it's not so hard to imagine how if that group of amphibians which was first to dare into the prolonged-dryness-of-air, had been somehow able at the time to foresee specimen as these eventually coming, they'd be quite solemnly drawn to fully re-consider the entire undertaking ... ) - "it's just the circle turning around! - yes, there are variations in specific expressions, but what-was-thus-far is ESSENTALLY the same as what-is-to-come - ehm, what can there really *ever* be new under-the-Sun?"

 

... fix a stick in the ground so that it's stable-standing and can rotate on own axis, tie one end of a rope to it and the other to your waist (applying this to neck not recommended!), and move one-full-turn around the stick, with equal pressure of rope-tightness, well-stretched, on the body: there it is! - your path thus traversed just reflected this 'ultimate perfection' which is the circle! (Or: position yourself stationary & with rotating-on-own-axis conditions, and apply the described rope-connection with another being, who'd do the round-movement -- to experience the 'ultimate perfection' of the same dynamics from this internal alternate reference-point).

 

"Look", the aforementioned 'astrologers' direct the attention of the new learner of the stellary-science, "it is these same segments of the ever-lasting, holy Circle that just keep appearing & re-appearing. Ah, the marvel, oh, the supreme profundity!"

 

... While the treveller Earth - together with her companion Moon, a unique duo-member of the Sun-suite - elegantly smooth-dancing as she does, keeps Going On ...

Slow does she seem to the ants on her surface moving at their unique frequency, this wanderer Earth.

 

But for the Saturn's sight, ah, isn't she such a busy-body?

 

And how fuming-speedy must she appear to Sedna, each time when in her own flight she's in the within-heliosphere part!

So, without getting ourselves stuck with running-in-circles, how then can we make use of this knowledge - that there is this very specific band-like area of the outer-space clearly perceivable from Earth, known as the Zodiac, and to which we can reliably apply the geometrical form of 360-degrees circle for the measurements related to it?

 

To untangle the old loopy knot and get ourselves moving in alignment with the motion of the Universe, a few most-basic clarifying steps are first due.

The form of the path traversed by each member of our local stellar-suite isn't a circle; the movement of the Sun around the Galactic Center isn't a circle; nor is what we see as the Zodiac-area in the sky actually a circle.

Just like a map of a place isn't the actual territory, but serves for its representation (and as such, can be accurate more or less), or a word spoken isn't the phenomenon it refers to itself, but a peculiar mental-verbal form serving as symbolic representation of it --  so is the geometric form of the Zodiac as a circle in astrology:  it is a symbolic form, practically applicable for us on Earth for measurements and calculations.

 

And here, now, is the *key* point - which, when properly understood, opens up for sight what's been previously obscurely appearing in perception as a wall, revealing it for the gateway (doors!) that it actually is:

 

A symbol - any symbol as such - is a *communication device*.

 

A symbol performs its job well when it adequately serves to *connect* (rather than to dis-connect!) our psyche/awareness with the phenomenon itself which it exists to represent.

 

And this is so in an exclusive manner: *solely* when this proper-connecting function is operative, is a symbol actually useful and its existence healthy, justified.

 

When there is a symbol which *is* being regularly used, but does not operate in this way, it is not "merely" dysfunctional and obsolete - this situation is actually damaging and dangerous: the given form in such cases is akin to poison being poured into the very opening of a mountain spring of a river, or having something extraneous, not vision-supporting, within your eye: it is something standing/abiding at a peculiar trans-mission, *movement*-serving place (think: a gateway, a hallway, a passage-door), so if not *conducting* the movement-stream *adequately for the given specific position*, such a phenomenon at such 'location' acts de-facto as a blocking, obstructing and/or a thwarting, turning-the-stream-toward-demise, factor.

Imagine you have a radio device, generally working well, with only one 'tiny' technical flaw such that for a given specific range of frequencies (say, including not more than 3 peculiar frequency-waves, among multiple-thousands for which it's operative) the sound "V" gets transmitted in a distorted way, so that what you hear is the sound "R" instead (or that, for example, the "Aa" sound always comes out as an "Ii").

You're using this device to receive information from far-far-away realms, otherwise entirely outside of scope of your perception. Thousands of frequency-waves are being transmitted, and it's only very rarely that any of those in that specific range affected by the technical flaw are being tuned-on; such a sophisticated radio device is hard to make, there's just a dozen or so of them on the whole globe, so, of course, you don't use it solely in order that you personally can listen to what-comes-through it, but the whole wider community you belong to avails itself of its functionality and existence.

No problem of any kind!, whatsoever, eh?

But, imagine that it's through those specific few - exactly three of them, let's put it so for example - frequency-waves that the vital, very core information is being transmitted: such related to the most basic things about human approach to food, information about breathing rhythms, and other similarly *most simple*, quite rudimentary aspects of our daily psycho-biological operations. So, only every once in a long, long while, on rare and exceptional occasions, or when there's some pronounced urgency, or a need/necessity for it, these get tuned-onto and listened to, otherwise, it's practically as if they aren't even there.

 

Yet, unlike the information transmitted via other wave-frequencies, these peculiar three are the ones coming most-immediately, directly from the vital-energy-stream's Source (- who/what else emits specifically such kind of information, right?). 

The device is being used, it seems in every respect fully functional, no flaws of any kind are at all being noticed.

 

But the vital information is exactly that: Vital.

Unlike any other type of information, the high-precision of accuracy in its transmission isn't a "negligent tiny detail", it's an actual, and very immediate (however perhaps something far-away seeming!) matter of life-or-death. And what's coming through wave-frequencies transmitting such information is not "given once, to be taken in that fixed-same way or form, for eternity"; the peculiar form-ulations moving-through therein are shifting over time, just like the adequate form of food for a 2-months old baby differs from the form adequate for the 12-months old, differs from that adequate for the 2-years old toddler, etc; each living being has its unique nature and capacities, and these are being nurtured into their emergence and healthy-unfolding by the space-time continuum's "aspect" we know as Mother Nature through processes which are *precisely timed* and are not operating as manifestations of some "given once-and-for-all fixed-formula" - they're ongoingly evolving, changing in accordance to the specifics of each given peculiar living beings' developmental-stage-related capacities & needs.

 

... One can be using such a radio, noticing absolutely nothing flawed about it, for as long as they are living; historical recordings, and all kinds of paraphernalia attesting to the splendor and wonderfulness of the device's utmost-functionality can be made; and all the following generations of those in the area within that same device's operational-reach could thus proceed. And if it so happens that of the dozen-or-so such devices existing on the globe there is only one, or a few of them without this peculiar technical flaw, these would be proclaimed to be not-adequately-functioning.

 

And everything, indeed (for what looks like quite-a-long time from a single human personal lifetime point of view) could appear entirely jolly-merry, splendidly flawless to the out-of-tune radio attached-to ones -- up until the *very final moments* before the Natural expiration-date, for each of the groups and individuals that are in such way, quite subtly but *radically* mis-aligned with the actuality of rhythms and frequencies of the space-time continuum's Vital stream-movement, comes to transpire.

So, for the Key-point not to be lost, let's put it forward again:

A SYMBOL is such a form which serves as a communication-device; it functions properly *solely* if & when it's *adequately connecting* our psyche/awareness with the phenomenon itself which it exists to -- and specifically: *in a conducting/conveying manner*, as the peculiar *suitable passage-vehicle* -- represent.

Out of the whole of visible sky from Earth, this peculiar band-area which we know as the Zodiac, and represent by a geometrical circle, is the zone ‘within’ which we see the planets of our Solar system move; or, in other words: this is the starry-space area with which the *plane* of our local, home-star-system’s planetary suite being and movement is aligned.

 There are numerous stars in each of the 12 segments of it, with different properties re how old and how mutually distant from each other they are, uniquely for each pair/group/cluster considered. It is from the perspective of our Solar system – we can take the Sun itself as the central reference point here – that the peculiar unifying-connectedness of their nature emerges; and this not “just randomly so”, but in a very specific way so, and *exclusively so*.

Or, to use a different verbal formulation to convey this same information:
Our Solar system, with the movements of all members of this particular stellar-suite, is in a uniquely specific way *attuned* with exactly this area-region of the whole of the body of the time-space continuum.

The English word Zodiac, the Latin Zodiacus, the Hellenic “zodiakos”, “zoos”, “vios”, and “bios”, as well as the whole family of Italic words based on & related to “vivo” and “vita”, the Indo-Iranian “jivati”, “jiva” (Sanksrit) and ‘zividan” (Persian), the Baltic “gyvas” and dzivot”, and various Slavic words (like the Russian, Slovak, Czech, Macedonian, etc., “život” ) that in their meaning, even to this day, directly convey what is otherwise the hidden radix – that reaches so deep underneath the surface-branchings of the visible growth of the large Indo-European language family-tree, so far-away in our collective language-development past, that of the exact “whence” of its appearance in time, and the specific “whereabouts” of the initial habituation of its use, we barely know anything, and are now merely just able to ascertain that, once-upon-a-time, it used to be: they are the present-day existing verbal-forms branchings stemming from the Proto-Indo-European root *gʷeyh₃- , “to live”.

Those reading this in English who are also familiar with the Slavic and Indo-Iranian language forms will immediately notice the vocal (meaning: by the specific sound-structuring) relation with the words related to Frequency and Sound (within the Indo-Iranian culture, there is even a major Deity form immediately representing this – often depicted as Dancing, and with his characteristic instrument, the damaru).

As is our Solar system’s plane-of-motion attuned with this (and *exactly* this) region-area of the whole of the visible sky, so does the trace-of-our-language-development reveal with clarity what over time easily tends to become obscured, until entirely forgotten: it is not a matter of some ‘coincidence’, some kind of ‘randomness’ -- this Life as we know of it here on Earth and within this our Solar system, came-to-be, is and goes-on as a unique time-space manifestation, an expanding-radial-expression of,  and solely within-the-context-of, this very peculiar, pitch-specific attunement of frequencies.

… How far back in time does reach our awareness-of (the basic knowledge-about) the Zodiac as-such? It still isn’t possible to say now with a precise certainty. Marshack’s work revealed that the characteristic Ice-age bone notations have been recordings of the *observed* Lunar period and phases; among the Cave Art thus far uncovered, there are images depicting clearly & indisputably some segments of this our celestial-bestiary (with images of planets included) - albeit with this kind of “memo-notes”, without a direct indication (in an at least implicit way) that those leaving the recordings were aware of the *whole Girdle as a singular phenomenon*, we today can’t say for sure what was the exact scope and degree of their knowledge of the Zodiac per se; Fagan’s work uncovered that the monumental inscriptions on the Ramesseum’s ceiling at Karnak show not only the Zodiac, but this with the record, as well, of planetary positions as they have been on a specific day (July 16^th, 2767 BC, by Julian count) – providing in an explicit and wholesome manner the information that, beyond any doubt, during this period such level of knowledge did exist ( & with having been considered as important as for it to be recorded in the manner that it was); and the excavations at the Gobekli and Karahan Tepe are still at their earliest stages – what’ll these reveal when completed, remains yet to be seen …

Through our own history as Earthly species (Homo), our evolution -- with the development of language/symbols-for-communication and the recording-systems -- has been intimately tied with this process of continual-observation, with the gradual increasing-refinement-of-precision (accuracy) of what can be seen-&-recorded, in relation to, explicitly, the Zodiac region of the whole of the visible sky.
Our human species-unique awareness of Time – from the initial emergence, into the further evolution/unfolding of this capacity --- has been based on the experience (combined with some form of recording/memo-making of what’s-been-noticed) of the observation of the Soli-Lunar rhythms and tidings, within this peculiar context of the starry-backdrop area of their visible ‘paths’ that we now know as the Zodiac.

Adequately nurturing, and further developing our knowledge-of, and increasingly-consciously moving in actual proper alignment-with these, what we call, “the astrological rhythms” isn’t, for our life on Earth, some superfluous, not-exactly-necessary and merely-one-of-many, aspects of the How & What of our being: it is the actual & radical Vital factor.

So, here is this vital-for-us stellar region called the Zodiac; and to get dis-connected, slip into the deadly deafness of losing-touch with It is, clearly, a no-go. How do we Proceed?

Letting-go of the main chunk of the obscuring baggage-load of our previously held-onto projections and prejudices is necessary, a willful turn toward a healthy demystification movement, before we can actually, collectively, get properly with the further-Going.

Observed from Earth, the Zodiac is a celestial region, a band-like area of the visible space around us.

There are stars in this area, and there are some shapes/forms arising as visual imagery in our awareness, as we look at this; throughout time, and at different locations (among different groups of Homo species), the specific parts of this region have been called by different names; the ones we use for them now have come to be embedded in our collective subconsciousness through the process of the related Egyptian imagery from some 4-2,000 years ago finding its way to the Alexandrian and post-Alexander-time Greek historians & scholars, and from there gradually becoming more or less our Global collective norm (with very few exceptions), via the spontaneous spreading of information on Earth through time as it came to be.

As long as we are aware that these names represent portions of actual starry-space, and not get ourselves entangled-into (blindly attached-to) the notion of ‘map-as-actual-territory’ while we’re using them, there is no problem with it at all.

But there are stories related to these images; these stories become created over time, introducing a movement-quality into what’s a fixed-shape of a geometrical form – initially as means of conveying the knowledge-thus-far-obtained, and easing the process of communicating it to the young so that a peculiar personal-intimacy-of-connection gets spontaneously thus developed with what otherwise tended to seem, during one long period-phase of our development, as so very far-away-removed from us that no *direct* contact, of immediacy-kind, is at all possible to exist. We nowadays know these stories as Myths.

Useful as they perhaps had been, in practical sense - each so pertinent to the time & circumstances of their appearance - to be perceived as heralds of some ‘secret, sacred Ultimate truth’ about the Zodiac isn’t just misplaced, at this time it functions as a yet-additional factor of obscuring – a factor leading us further into getting cut-off, the disconnection: these stories are what the human mind developed to “animate” the already-formed imagery; they are Projections – and as such, speak of the human growing capacities over time well, but do not actually say anything directly and immediately about the stars, the celestial region itself.
With the details and the plots they contain, they tend to direct the attention (and the stream of energy-movement of our psyche, in whole, together with this) in a very subtle but loopy-vortex-kind of manner into a circulation-within-circle, and then lock it there; we get attached (deeply, internally very intimately so) to these specific ideas that have a time-movement feature in them (ideas formulated as stories), which thus seem as if they’re representing some vital-movement (growth, development) while what they actually do is keep the attention and energy within the realm of a specific cluster of human own (growth-phase defined, and thus naturally very limited in their quality & scope) ideas & thinking-processes – projecting these onto the Celestial realm, and taking this mirror-reflections thus ‘seen’ as some kind of ‘actual information’ about the Stars themselves!

Unlike these stories, the positions of the stars, and the rhythm-beat of number 12, are as they are – these are factors which did not arise out of some group/culture’s transient, fanciful ideas or opinions.

From one to the next, between two consecutive Earth’s annual-level periods - whether measured from Equinoces, or in relation to the ecliptic-region stars rising in the East after Sunset - the New Lunar Crescent appears into its visibility 12 times (after its so-called “hidden phase”, which is the transition from the “Dark Moon” of the waning gibbous crescent, through the astronomical conjunction with Sun phase, until its emergence into being visible again as the New Moon). And on the diurnal level, from one to the next, between two consecutive moment/periods of the same Zodiac star(s) appearing on the horizon – that is, during one Earth’s turn on its axis – the “path traversed”, or movement, of the Moon and the Sun, expressed in arc-degrees on the ecliptic, has the rhythm-ratio of 12:1.

It is within this rhythm-beat matrix of the mutual attunement of these three, central in most Fundamental sense for us here, celestial ‘factors’ – the Moon, the Sun and the starry-area of the sky “through” which these two celestial Luminaries are, as seen from our perspective on Earth, “traversing” - that every cell of every living organism on this planet has emerged into its being.

Rather than looking how to “connect” with the time-space continuum’s Vital stream whose directly-visible celestial expression for us is the Zodiac through increasingly-thickening entanglement into the veiling, obscuring-network of our own thinking-&-calculating processes, the way of continuation & deepening/refinement/evolution of actual Connection is through orientation toward ever-growing in its quality Immediacy of contact.  -  If one has senses developed for direct, immediate reception of information from a physically-distant-realm, the presence of a transmission tool such as is a radio-device can be useful, but isn’t at all necessary; and if/when such a device happens to be malfunctioning, an occurrence of that kind does not operate as a factor leading to the loss of actual contact/connection.
 

During the past cca 1.5 dozen of centuries, the human species has gradually but consistently been trained into greater and greater dis-continuation of immediacy of contact with the Starry sky itself, with the capacity for direct-connection becoming so atrophied, by huge tumorous-kind of structure-growth of layer-upon-layer of obscurity, over time, that it came to it now appearing as something veritably “entirely impossible”.

Not only is the very notion that a human being can learn something about the sky, stars and Life itself by simple, one’s own, persistent careful Observation, close to extinct, but the physical conditions for us on Earth for such basic immediacy of presence-with the phenomena of the visible celestial realm have turned into what’s forcefully and emphatically been oriented toward disabling this kind of Contact: what we nowadays so casually call “the light pollution” and tend to perceive as just ‘some rather negligent in importance’, a yet-another-factor-of our modern-day existence, “normal aspect of existence”, is far from actually normal, in the healthy natural sense of it, for our Life on Earth – as “quite normal” as it seems, with all the complex subtleties of different aspects of its existence, what it actually is is something outright functioning in the service of our demise.
 
Looking at screens with letters, numbers and percentage-notations generated by a software, as not only primary-way, but the only way, of how we “keep the connection with” and “receive-information-from” the Celestial realm, without the direct immediacy of exposure-to and visual-contact-with the night sky itself, is much akin to someone staring at the physical reflection of their own face in a plain, simple mirror, claiming this mirror is a highly-refined, advanced telescope, and feeling absolutely certain that what is transpiring via this process is: they’re thus obtaining and increasingly-deepening their knowledge about some very specific distant Celestial realms & their actualities.

Human being’s capacities and their adequate development/evolution require presence of both Day-light and the Night – as these naturally and rhythmically occur for a living being existing on Earth.

Thinking about the stars is exactly that: thinking.
There is no amount of thinking that can make a human being on this planet more-consciously and most-directly so connected-with & attuned-to the starry expanse of space which we call the Sky, without the immediacy of one’s visual exposure-to and silent intimacy of attentive-Presence-with the clear Night sky.

Over time, the practical aspects of astrological endeavors, those concerning the Interpretation (of different factors & of their mutual clusterings/connections) and, especially, related to this, the Prediction, have developed so that they function as yet-another obscuring, in-itself-enclosed loop-within-loop. Onto the Zodiac, the 12 portions of this stellar realm, started being projected the themes, thoughts and ideas which emerged to our awareness related to the planets of our Solar system: we gradually got into this notion as habit of perceiving the Zodiac-related starry-space-expanse as inherently defined by the qualities/ideas/properties that we noticed to be related to the planets!

The concept of “planets ruling the signs” emerged, directing steadily - however very subtly and slowly – in a loopy-manner our attention, until almost fully locking it in within this, into projecting the ideas stemming from observation of what-is-close-by and somewhat-known onto the what is distantly-away, and with qualities that are fundamentally the-yet-unknown – putting up, thus, a specific kind of veil before our eyes, a fixed-type of imagery-charade that supposedly exists in service of us “seeing and learning-about the stars”, while what it’s actually been doing has been: blocking of our sight, the vision-potential, to be present to the starry-realm itself, by persistently training into atrophy our very capacity for the direct-awareness of this at all, as such.

Granted there are some similarities/affinities in observed qualities between individual planets and one or another of the Zodiac signs, the actually accurate, adequate way of language-use about this is not the term “rulership” (and other such similar forms); the most & best we can do is say it’s “representation” of a sign/starry-realm by a planetary-principle – and even this is a bit of a stretch, for all we actually know is that, simply, there is a similarity, a likeness-of-quality; to project some fixed ideas of hierarchical (and/or enclosed-schematics) kind onto it doesn’t in any way support increase of our knowledge, or the developing/deepening of our understanding, of either side of these two peculiar groupings of astrological factors, the signs and the planets.

The open-ended, expandingly-spiraling, oriented toward-infinity movement of the tissue of the time-space-continuum’s body, as well as of what we know as Life itself, requires that we adjust our ways of approaching the Observation, and introduce changes in the default-mode of our automated, yet which are obscuring/blinding, perception-tendencies – however ‘safely habituated’ many of us have become in such patterns.

The Science – human scientific endeavor as such, stemming from the species’ capacity, willingness and openness to continually Learn – is ultimately about Revealing, the Uncovering, bringing-to-open-sight, that which has been thus-far not-known (including the not even considered as possible-to-be existing!), about the properties and qualities of the processes & rhythms of Nature (in the smaller as well as wider scope of what we call by this name).

And this our dance-like process, at times smooth, at times turbulent, is not, at any moment, in any of its phases, a “finished product”; a fractal-expression of the universal evolving-expansion-of-Life movement as it is, it’s an ongoingly-open-ended process: whatever “definite answers” that we come-upon as we thus Go, it is the Open-questions which are of greatest value! – sometimes, these bring what feels like a-huge-disturbance to the structures of “definite answers” we’ve been very sure we’ve indisputably “got to get hold-of” during the dance-thus-far; but if the movement keeps-going in a Balanced way, open-ended, with our actual capacities and willingness to keep-Learning not atrophied, such shaking-up passages eventually come to be nothing more but a funny-facts historical data, an interesting aspects of the what-transpired-in-the-past, to tell the Children about.

Herethere follows a list of stars which are on and in-the-immediate-proximity-of the ecliptic-area, by their Zodiac longitude.
Some of them are by the present-day astronomical designations classified under the constellations/visual-grouping names which are not among the Zodiac’s Twelve, but this is not of concern for us here; they are positioned in the sky in such way that, within the non-light-polluted, clear-night conditions, we can observe them in immediate relation to the position of the visible Lunar disk, as well as to the positions of the planets of our Solar system (the naked-eye visible ones, together with the telescope-visible ones) – however some or another group’s current-decision, pertinent to one or another period of human history, may decide to designate them, for all our practical intents and purposes, these naturally belong with the Zodiac-region.  –  It is the position of those brightest among them which are most closely aligned with the ecliptic itself, and with their exact spatial-mutual-relation as it is, the observation of which (in light of, primarily & initially, using the visible Moon’s motion as the easy-marker for measurements) enabled over time our awareness of the Zodiac to emerge with the degree of accuracy which is at the disposal of our knowledge today [for more info on this subject, see: fiducial/s, Fagan-Bradley ayanamsha].

Is or isn’t there “a First among the Twelve” is a matter to be left for further investigation; in order to at all approach it, an agreement would need to be made about How exactly are we to (at least practically, in an on-the-go working manner) define what is, in this context, adequate to be considered as “the Beginning”-marker. – Thus, to avoid any unnecessary confusion at this time, the list begins with the sign-segment of the Zodiac directionally aligned with our local Galactic Center, Sagittarius, following in the observable sequence in which the Solar System’s bodies traverse “through” the signs.

It is by no means an exhaustive, an all-included kind of a “complete” list; it’s merely to serve as a small initial-steps type of a visual navigation aid.
What is it that you can/will do with it - whether you may perhaps come to feel drawn to undertake a sort of a study ( - something, for example, based on longitudinal relation of the Moon’s/Sun’s or the syzygies’ position with them?), or to simply just observe, during the clear nights, being silently Present-with the visibility of the stars themselves as they are in the sky - or yet something altogether else – I’m leaving to the guidance of your inspiration.

re: Earth's Annual-tide rhythmic Celebrations

The Solstices and Equinoctes, long celebrated as natural "turning points" and thus specific Holidays, mark the quarter-moments of one Earth's annual tide. The reference-framework within which these are observed is the Earth-Sun spatial relationship, and this exclusively within the context of: Earth's position in space during the course of one whole rotational-tide of our planet around the Sun, measured as such from one of these four distinct moments of this tidal-rhythm. 

Here, the underlying perspective-framework is that of the Earth-Sun system being a purely mechanical phenomenon-process, consisting of these two bodies, of which one is taken as fixed, with the other moving in a circle around it, and which exists "on its own", is defined by itself, and is entirely unrelated to anything whatsoever within the environment in which it exists. 

Although somewhat practically useful, this way of perceiving & measuring the Earth's annual tidal rhythm veils from our sight, and keeps us mis-aligned, rather than supporting our ever-increasing attunement-to, the wider Natural rhythms, and serving to reveal, instead of conceal, their actual dynamics (laws-of-motion). 

The Sun-Earth system as such does not exist "in a vacuum", isolated-from, or otherwise fundamentally-non-related-to, the rest of the time-space continuum, which we generally know by the term Universe (or Cosmos). 

The whole Solar system - our local star the Sun, with its suite of planets and their Moons - is exactly what & how it is, and moves as it does, as part of the Milky Way, our local Galaxy ( - and by "our" here is implied: we Earthlings, and this Solar system we're part of, *belong to it*, not the other way around!).

So, indeed, albeit from the partial, very limited (and fundamentally incorrect) perspective of the Sun-Earth as system "existing on its own" our planet's annual tidal rhythm can be measured & represented via these 4 points we call Equinoctes & Solstices, which simply re-occur over and over again in a repeating-of-the-same circular manner, in truth, the whole Solar system moves around & outwardly-directed-from the center of the Galaxy - *not* in a circular, but open-ended, spiral-expanse motion.

Keeping to the practice of celebrating the four seasonal moments (and this aside from the fact that the four seasons of the climate as such, anywhere on Earth, are now, as phenomenon, becoming entirely obsolete), we keep not only our conscious mind & awareness away from getting more directly attuned to the actuality of rhythms (and existence of it as such, at all!) of the wider context of the Universe, but - and this is of primary importance! - our *subconscious psyche*, and the whole foundational psycho-biological system directly related to it. 

Or, in other words: by perpetuating the already-established, ritualized habitual practice (individually & collectively) of moving (and existing) within a framework of a two-dimensional circle, as a perpetuated self-feeding loop of "eternal re-currence of the same" - we keep ourselves (at the primal, deep level, psychologically as well as physically) locked within this pattern, and keep training into dormancy (eventually, to full atrophy) our capacity for attunement with the wider space-time Continuum, the living-moving Cosmic Body of which our Solar system is only one tiny organelle.  ... Much like a dog chasing its own tail, or a mouse running on a rotating-wheel, with these 4-seasons Ritual/feast-celebration practice habitualized in a fixed manner, and kept perpetuated as the basic annual Natural-rhythms framework for the celebrations, our inherent capacities of Sight, over time are getting trained out of existence - toward total blindness, such that even merely the potential for Sight eventually gets extinct; instead of becoming increasingly more and more Connected-with and attuned-to the rest of the Universe, we gradually slip into greater and greater isolation from it ...

The movement out of this dead-end-loop is via conscious introduction of new, different Rituals - over time, as the framework of perception of species widens, gradually adjusting our practices which are at the basis of the (individual & collective) Natural-tides-related habit-establishing beat-like movements. 

Most of what we can see of the sky here on Earth are the aspects of the time-space continuum belonging to this our local Galaxy. 

How exactly is the Center of Milky Way Galaxy connected to other Galactic Centers, we presently do not know.  What *is* clear is that the first-next (in the sense of immediacy-proximity for us) hub-like reference-point, akin to how the Sun functions for its planetary-suite company, is our Galactic Center.  So, our first next annual-tide-related, habit-establishing, healthy and natural collective step is the introduction of Rituals which are not Earth-Sun-as-isolated-system-in-itself based, but are based on awareness of our Galaxy as our *actual* existence-related Natural framework. 

By the calendar system we use to measure time now, the Earth-Sun duo is aligned (and each time in a specific manner so) with the Galactic Center directly twice per year: on (or immediately-next-to) the dates of June 19th and December 19th.

The primary reference used for measuring here is the Zodiac - the starry-belt area of the Ecliptic - defined by the stars of this area themselves, not by the Earth's movement around the Sun (which is the Tropical framework): the Galactic Center is aligned with the 2*07' Sagittarius, so when the Sun comes to this Zodiac position ( ~ December 19th), the Earth is toward-the-other-side (aligned with the ~2* Gemini, observed Heliocentrically), and there is a direct spatial alignment of the Earth-Sun-G.C.; as well as when the Sun is positioned at 2*07' Gemini (~ June 19th) - with this configuration putting the Earth in-line exactly between the Sun itself and the Galactic Center. 

... Each time one of these two peculiar configuration-positions of the Sun-Earth system in reference to the core of our local Galaxy happens as event, we're at a different position in the time-space continuum; the Solar System moves on its unique path, in expanse-spiral motion, out-&-further-away from the Galactic Center - path such that each new "step" of it is yet-untraversed, still-uncharted, in truth: yet-unknown - *coming into existence by this motion itself* !

What we, as species, will see of the Infinity thus unfolding depends on how we train our capacities for such sight.

Let our feasts-of-times Rituals be rightly performed - with Joy, in this continuous flight, celebrating Beauty at each next "semestral-stone-step", dancing with our hearts-minds-&-bodies with ever-increasing harmony of attunement to the perfection of Nuit's delight!

About The Astrological MARS

*** About the astrological MARS ***

During the more recent past (of the long existence of this our Science), the astrological ergie represented by planet Mars has been often connected to the term and notion of "power" – with a tendency of moving toward a trend of this getting accustomed as the way we generally perceive, and speak about, Mars.

This is a misconception, though, and it leads us away from actually better understanding Nature, as well as understanding of astrological planets themselves, the planet Mars included!

In our current cultural framework, it has become habitualized to perceive the meaning of the word *power* as something that indicates an activity or process of over-powering, or over-whelming, or dominating something; this notion includes, at its root, a specifically *competitive* mutual relating, a struggle/strife, between a given two sides, and with an either-or in it as a necessary quality of conditions.

Yet, *power* as such is not this - this is solely one of manifold possible ways how that which, in Nature, is *power* can manifest.

Power, in simplest terms, is the *vital movement of energy* itself - it is akin to a river current; it's the very *how* of the Being of the space-time continuum; it's not something that can be contained-within or represented-with only one or another definite, specific form. Every form, and every planetary ergie, is just an expression, a “subset”, of this -- the Vital stream of Energy as such. The Earth itself is one expression of it, the Sun, or any star, is another kind of expression of it, etc - everything that is or can be is simply one manifestation or expression of it.

We can not use one single planet to, in a wholesome way, actually fully and accurately represent this. - If we'd somehow *have* to do that, the closest we could get is to attribute it to Uranus, from the perspective of prioritizing the "current" quality of it (the streaming, akin, say, to the river-streaming phenomenon, or the electricity-streaming, or the Kundalini within our human systems).

But this, in truth, is not adequate - none of the specific forms, not any one single-among-the-many this or that particular expressions of this Stream-of-Energy itself, or a single astrological planet, can be a representative of it in a wholesome and defining manner.

So, there really isn't such a thing as "power needs" within the human psyche. Power doesn't "look for" to in some way "win-over", or "overtake" something or other, nor to "achieve" anything in specific; it simply *is*; without it none of us would at all in any way be!; and it is not something that one can "have", as a "possession", nor something that one can "have more of it or less of"; to talk about a person's "power needs" is akin to speaking about their "sky-needs", or "water-needs", and the like!

If we want to define or speak about astrological Mars, with orientation toward understanding, and the desire for accuracy in this, we can, rather, talk about practical directed-energy needs, or physical-activity needs, etc ( - and, in pathological expressions, this can turn into *domination-over*, or *overcoming* of something/someone from environment, and so forth).

In simplest terms, Mars is about specific, particularized channels of the energy moving, so that it moves with intensity and in a definite manner (look at the planet's glyph!); and it's fundamentally connected to practical immediacy of the physical realm, and making changes within it.

If a single sentence describing concisely the nature of this planet is to be used, we could say it is:

FOCUSED APPLICATION OF ENERGY, and such that it introduces-changes-to/affects the physical realm.

Each of us has this tendency as an "ergie" within own psyche/system, and for each it is uniquely different how it "works"/operates, so we look at the peculiar position and configurations of natal Mars, for these "details" about it.

Whether it will tend to manifest in a pathological (damaging for individual and their environment) or a healthy manner is *not* defined by the Natal Mars aspects or its zodiac position!

It is primarily defined by the overall cultural conditions, and the how (quality) of the collective-patterns for the energy-movement; for, each of our individual activity-patterns (the "channels", the energy-pathways created through action itself, and through experience, and habitualized/established as "normal" through repetition) exists within the context of the given person's environment.

Mars itself, as it is, or this capacity-for-focused-application-of-energy in practical sense, is entirely *neutral* - it is neither "good" nor "bad"; as with each of the planetary ergies, it is simply a phenomenon of Nature. But with Mars in specific, given its unique quality as an ergie, it is easy to -- by observing the consequences of actions, or observing the results or such-and-such peculiar channel-patterns (energy-application-pathways) -- practically determine the "good" and the "bad", and to in a specifically emphasized manner perceive these aspects of the phenomenon represented by this planetary principle.

Before there is the outward, physical expression (via activity/movement of body), there is an internal initial movement of this directed-application-of-energy: this is what we generally know by the term/notion of *choice*; when the choice is perceived within the realm of one's conscious operations/processes, that's the Choice proper; when it is initiated from the subconscious level, and from within the deeper psycho-biological layers, that's what we generally don’t perceive as a “choice” and instead, call *compulsion* (or otherwise, a necessity).

But in both cases, it is about the pathways, the channels-established via *application-of-energy* (the focused-movement of it), whose particular quality will determine whether the further movement of energy (from the more basic, primal, primordial levels/layers, into the surface-expressions of it) comes out as that which we call "a choice" or as that which is "a compulsion", or as that which we can definitely determine as "good" or as "bad".

Unlike *power* as such, which is unlimited, what is represented by astrological Mars necessarily contains in it the existence of *limitation*: the focused-movement/application of energy happens, as process, within some environment, and it is this context that makes it possible for there to at all be such a peculiar phenomenon as this! --- So there are choices/compulsory-tendencies, and peculiar channels which get formed by actions taken (directed/focused-energy motion itself) , and specific consequences of this (in accordance to its quality) - with the either-or, and the mutually-conflicting duality aspects, of it: *physically*, one can be at one place at one given time, and not simultaneously at more than one places; one can apply the energy streaming through one's system during a given life-time in one way or in another; at each moment of time-space continuum, while existing as a human on Earth, we abide within this either-or context. And Mars is specifically the ergie of directing, applying the energy *within* this context.

So, Mars in one's chart, its peculiar position and configurations, describes one's individual, unique overall *doing-qualities* -- the peculiar "colors" and "flavors" of it, and the how-exactly-it's-connected to the rest of the chart. But whether these qualities, the peculiar composition-and-coloring of it, will tend toward the "good" or the "bad", toward the pathological, or the healthy (the harmonious or harmful - and so in a smaller or wider context of environmental-operations) we can not somehow determine-in-advance *solely* from the astrological chart itself --- the full practical context, the cultural conditions and actualities of one's existence, provide the specific framework, within which a given natal-Mars, with its unique configurations, will get to develop and be expressed.

And in the so-called "esoteric" tradition which has been vitally existing alongside Astrology itself for ages, it is Mars – not Jupiter! not Saturn! – which has been connected to the principle of JUSTICE.

This, of course, is not coincidental, and we can get a better understanding of this now through the approach to, and observation of, the Mars ergie devoid from the misplaced attachment of the notion of "power" to it:

The consequences of every action, every instance of the focused-application, the directed-movement, of energy, are in their quality *precisely* adequate to the action itself.

( - we can see the record of human deeper awareness of this, reflectively formulated, and kept as collective-knowledge throughout time, in the folk-wisdom-sayings such as "what you sow is what you reap", "by their fruits shall ye know them", etc. …)
